About Hustle Admin
Zanele Khumalo is the pen name of this site's editorial team. We use one name and one consistent voice so the site reads like it comes from one place, but there's no single person called Zanele, and we won't pretend otherwise.
Our guides are researched from published sources: SARS guides, notices and tax tables, CIPC rules and fees, the Government Gazette, and payment providers' published fees and terms, plus readers' real experiences when they share them with us. We link every source and give the date we checked it. When we use a scenario to show how something works, we say clearly that it's an example, not a real person.
What we cover
Tax and SARS for side hustles, registering a business with CIPC, getting paid (card machines, payment links and foreign clients), pricing and invoicing, starting on a small budget, and avoiding scams.
How we approach it
- Steps you can follow. Every guide ends with what to do next, in order, with the official link for each step.
- Anti-scam by default. If something promises easy money or asks you to pay to earn, we say so plainly.
- Practical about tax. We explain the rules as SARS publishes them, with worked examples, and tell you when it's time to get a registered tax practitioner.
How the site is paid for
The guides are free. We plan to show advertising, including ads served by Google, and some links may be affiliate or referral links (for example to a payment provider or web host) that pay us a commission if you sign up, at no cost to you. When a page has one, it says so. Partners never decide what our guides say.
Corrections
Rules, prices and dates change, and we make mistakes. If you spot something wrong or out of date, please tell us and we'll fix it and note the change.
